Ms. Micky LaBonte - Pre-Kindergarten Mentor

I started teaching at Saint Francis Xavier School in the fall of 2013, but my history with the school goes back much further than that.

I grew up in Winooski, surrounded by my grandparents and aunts and uncles.  While attending Saint Francis Xavier as a child, I walked to my grandparents’ house for lunch everyday and spent most weekends there. My family history with the school runs deep.  For several generations, my family has worshiped, volunteered, and worked for the SFX Parish and School.  This school is an important part of our lives. It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to give something back to a place that holds such a special spot in my heart and the hearts of my family.

I graduated from Burlington High School, received an Associates Degree in Business from Champlain College, and a teaching degree at CCV.  I operated a registered home daycare from my home in Colchester for 19 years.  During that time, I helped raise and educate dozens of children.  I've spent most of my adult life influencing and teaching infants, toddlers, and young people. It's my life's work.

I love to draw, garden and travel.  I have a huge garden in my backyard every year and I enjoy spending time in it.  I treasure my time with my husband, Wayne, our two grown children and especially wonderful grandson. When I stepped away from leading the Pre-K program, it was to soak up time with him. The SFX School community is etched on my heart, though, so it is an honor to be able to remain a part of it as I mentor the fantastic, energetic Pre-K team of teachers.
