Extracurricular Activities

Cross Country
Students in 5th through 8th grade are welcome to join our cross country team in the fall. Practices are three times a week, right after school. The team participates in meets across Chittenden County. Our volunteer coaches do a remarkable job encouraging each runner do his/her personal best.

Girls on the Run
We are thrilled to offer this renowned program for girls in 3rd through 5th grades. The mission is to help girls be joyful, healthy and confident. In addition to the life-long lessons learned, the 10-week program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k.

CYO Basketball
SFX School and Parish combine to
field basketball teams that play in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) league. There are teams for boys and girls in 4th, 5th and 6h grades and teams for students in 7th and 8th grades. Teams practice once or twice per week and play games on Sundays.

Baseball
This is not just an athletic endeavor at SFX. Our baseball team participates in community service projects throughout the year. The boys play other middle schools from the area. Our home field is Landry Park in Winooski. All boys from 5th - 8th grade who wish to participate are welcome.

Spirit Squad
SFX Spirit Squad is a group of K-8 students who dance, cheer, and promote school sprit and positivity. Working together they bring entertainment and joy to school assemblies, and are hoping to cheer on an SFX sporting event in the fall!

Kindness Club
A club that organizes activities for Kindness Week, which occurs in May. The club brings positivity, facilitates connections, and seeks to increase belongingness to students, teachers, faculty, and staff. The goal is to encourage students to engage in daily acts of kindness which in turn fosters empathy, and strengthens the school’s sense of community.

Chess Club
Dr. Keeley Schell, the SFX librarian and Information Literacy teacher, and SFX parent Ryan Boisvert are the advisors for the SFX Chess Club. Dr. Schell encourages her students to attend the Vermont State Scholastic Chess Championship.

Special Choir
Our talented and passionate music teacher leads a group of interested singers from 4th - 8th grade in lending their voices to special events throughout the school year, including Grandparents’ Day and Feast Days.
