Mrs. Alex Lovejoy - Kindergarten Teacher

I am a native Vermonter and am very excited to be back in the state I love! I went to St. Joseph School in Burlington as I grew up, so Catholic education is very close to my heart. I graduated from Colchester High School in 2009. I was thrilled to move to Florida to attend the University of Tampa (UT) and graduated with my Elementary Education degree in 2013. While at UT, I was president of the Education Honors Society and was a research assistant to the department head. We researched cyberbullying, developed a middle school anti-bullying program and had our research article published. After completing work on the research and article, our team of seven traveled to Finland to learn more about why it is the top-ranked country for education in the world.

For two years I was so blessed to teach at Brandon Academy, in Brandon, Florida. Working in this national Blue Ribbon award-winning school made me push myself to be the best teacher I can be. I have experience teaching 3rd grade and Kindergarten. I am so happy to now be the Kindergarten teacher at St. Francis! I moved back to Vermont to be with my family. They are all up here! We attend St. Francis Church as a family and that family now includes my husband Kenyon and daughter Layla.

I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since 2nd grade. What makes that so special was that my teacher inspired me to become a teacher, her love of children, the love of her job, and her dedication to excellence was contagious! She has always been there for me as I grew up and made the greatest impact on my life. She was my mentor in grade school, and that followed into my career. Now, as a teacher I get to live every young teacher's dream, teaching in the classroom next to your inspiration. Mine is Ms. Catozzi (2nd grade teacher at St. Francis)!

When I am not teaching, I enjoy dancing, hiking, kayaking, biking, running, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. I am a Vermont girl and I am re-experiencing all this state has to offer, there is no place like home!
