Mrs. Kathy Rouleau - Art

I am so happy to join Saint Francis Xavier as your new Art Teacher in 2019. I grew up on a dairy farm in Franklin, a half mile from Canada, surrounded by green fields, a brook and wildlife. I received my degree in Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology with a concentration in Photography. After college I worked in Burlington doing digital pre-press and page layout at Lane Press. I spent the next few years working in digital printing and advertising in northern California. The weather was wonderful but my heart was meant to be in Vermont! I came back East and met my husband Shawn, in Camden, Maine. We were married, moved back to the farm in Franklin and built our own house from a 100-year-old timber frame barn. Once again I am surrounded by green fields, a brook and a little more wildlife than before! We have a daughter in 8th grade and a son in 6th.

I believe that all children (and adults) should have time to be creative. I still enjoy photography but also do needle felting, printing, sewing, mixed-media, painting and always want to learn more! For the past four years I have worked as a para-educator at Franklin Central School as well as leading after school and summer programs focusing on art and nature. I have also initiated an art program there working from a traveling art cart one day a week.

To be an art teacher and support children in expressing themselves creatively is one of my dreams. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity and can’t wait to get to know everyone. Please stop and say hello when you get the chance!
