Mrs. Eileen Barendse - 1st Grade Teacher
and Elementary School Department Head

I am thrilled to be a member of the St. Francis Xavier community. In my time here I have served as a first grade teacher, student support staff, and administrator. I enjoyed returning to the classroom to teach first grade and bringing all of these experiences into my practice. It is a great honor to support the Early Education and Elementary teachers as a division head as we continue to develop and provide a quality program for our students.

I entered the Catholic school community as a 6th grader in Connecticut and continued right through high school, college, and graduate school! I have an undergrad degree in Sociology from Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and a Masters degree in Elementary Education from St. Michael's College. I started my teaching journey in New Orleans, LA and shortly after returning to Vermont I began my career at SFX. Being an educator is an incredible opportunity to engage in continuous learning, I love bringing new ideas to the classroom and building student engagement.

I live in Jericho with my husband, our two girls - who both attend SFX - and our dog. My husband and I are both New York natives, so when we’re not visiting family out of state we enjoy finding new adventures in Vermont.
