St. Francis Xavier School

Hello! My name is Destiny Laverty. I am excited to teach fourth grade at St Francis for the 2023 school year!

 

Last November, I unofficially joined SFX community - coming in to help Mr. Laverty with middle school religion when the school I was working at did not have classes, but St. Francis did. When my schedule opened a bit more in February, I volunteered every morning to help wherever I was needed. When the opportunity arose for me to co-teach fourth grade with Mr. Laverty, I eagerly embraced it.

 

I graduated from Champlain College with a degree in secondary education in Social Studies. In my last semester, I began teaching in a Catholic school in a pre-school classroom; a culmination of many experiences including practicums in which I taught Hebrew, English Language Learners, Literacy, and general education for a range of ages, including infants, through middle school, both online for students overseas, and in-person, locally. Last year I was also the leader of the after-school program, serving Kindergarten through 8th grade.

 

I was baptized in February 2023, with my soon-to-be in-laws, Kevin, and Lisa Laverty serving as my mentors, and Godparents. I am committed to making my classroom a place where students can seek God and knowledge.
