Mrs. Cathy Richards - Middle School Teacher

I began teaching at Saint Francis Xavier School in 2005 and I have been involved in Catholic education for over 25 years having taught at Catholic schools in Kentucky, Georgia, Pennsylvania,
and New York.

I grew up in Poultney, VT and graduated from Poultney High School.   I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College and did my student teaching at Mater Christi School.  After many years living in various places throughout the USA, my husband and I returned to Vermont and I found my new teaching home at Saint Francis. My husband and I have been married for 35 years and have four children and five grandchildren. Our oldest grandchild currently attends St. Francis Xavier School.

I feel called to teach in a Catholic school.  My philosophy is based on the fact that every individual possesses special gifts and great value.  One of my teaching goals is for all of us in the classroom to strive to understand and respect each other’s values and gifts.  It is my hope to help students reach their academic potential and to develop and strengthen their faith.
