I have had the privilege of serving in the Saint Francis
Xavier Development Office since the fall of 2010, but my connection to the
school goes back to 1986 when the oldest of my seven children entered
kindergarten here. For the past 28 years I have been a parent, a member of the
School Board, and a volunteer at a gazillion school events (that’s a rough
estimate) before ending up in the Development Office.
I grew up in Ohio,
graduating from Ohio
University with a B.A. in
English. I then attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, from
which I graduated in 1978. Immediately following graduation, I married a very cute
law school classmate, Tom McCormick, and moved to his home state – beautiful Vermont. Tom and I
practiced law together at McCormick, Fitzpatrick, Kasper and Burchard for
twenty years until I took the world’s longest maternity leave in 1999 when our
youngest child arrived.
Our pastor, Monsignor Lavalley, was concerned I would be
bored with only seven children to tend to, so he kindly asked me to return to
the School Board at that time. My current position in the Development Office
allows me to spend time with a wonderful community of students, teachers,
staff, parents, volunteers, and incredibly generous benefactors, for which I am
