Reporters Club presents: Flag Demonstration

posted Jan 9, 2017, 6:45 AM by Becky Wetzel   [ updated Jan 9, 2017, 7:03 AM by Kathleen Finn ]

St. Francis has been fortunate to receive a mini iPad and other film-making accessories from the Tarrant Institute for Innovative Education.  The students used this equipment to put together a video about the Air National Guard's visit to the 7th grade class.   It's the 7th grade's responsibility to raise and lower the flag every day, and the guardsman demonstrated the proper way to raise, lower and fold the flag.  The Reporters Club worked for many weeks on storyboards, filming, interviews and editing for their first video project...with terrific results!

Open House Wednesday, February 1st - 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

ANNUAL APPEAL UNDERWAY FOR SAINT FRANCIS XAVIER SCHOOL

posted Jan 9, 2017, 5:24 AM by Becky Wetzel   [ updated Jan 9, 2017, 5:39 AM ]

“Counting Our Blessings.”
This is not only our theme for this year’s Saint Francis Xavier School Annual Appeal, it is what we do all year, every year.
The three of us are proud to serve as the Co-Chairs for the 2016-2017 Annual Appeal. Our ties to Saint Francis run deep. Shawn and Stephyne’s two sons are following in their mom’s footsteps as students here. Shawn and Stephyne have volunteered in every capacity from the School Board, to the Home and School Association, to field trip chaperones. Jeff is a Saint Francis graduate, parent of SFX alumni, and longtime coach and coordinator of our CYO basketball program.
We know firsthand that the high quality, Catholic education provided at Saint Francis is a great gift to the children in our community.  We also know your contribution to the Annual Appeal makes that gift possible.
The blessings here are many: dedicated, talented and energetic teachers and administrators; involved and supportive families and volunteers; the presence of two wonderful priests, Monsignor Richard Lavalley and Father Scott Gratton; a beautiful, updated facility; and, of course, our wonderful students. We welcomed 40 new students to our school this fall!
Your support of the Saint Francis Xavier School Annual Appeal makes this possible. The Annual Appeal plays a crucial part in the school’s financial health. The money from this Appeal bridges the gap between what tuition covers and the actual cost of educating our students.
A core group of deeply committed benefactors, including Monsignor Lavalley himself, has again stepped forward to help. They will match all money raised in our Annual Appeal by January 31, 2017, up to $50,000! Please take advantage of this opportunity to double your donation to Saint Francis Xavier School and thereby double the gift you give to our children. *
You can donate online by clicking on the donate button at the bottom of this page.  You can also call 655-2600 and ask for Robin or Jane for more information or e-mail us at info@sfxvt.org.
We are counting our blessings – we hope we can count on you!

Stephyne and Shawn Burke and Jeffrey Brosseau

*Note, some companies, such as IBM, match donations by their employees and retired employees. You may be able to TRIPLE your contribution if you work for a company with a matching program!
