Cross Country Meet Updates

Chittenden County Cross Country Championship 10/14 - 1.9 Miles
Here are the results for our team. It was a great meet and we are so proud of all our runners. Everyone looked strong and gave 100% effort for the last meet. Anna, Caroline, Cassidy, Evelyn, Amy, Sophia, and Aida ran faster than the Williston meet - a shorter, flat course. Cassidy ran 4.5 minutes faster than last year at the Championships. Jaydon, Carson, Ryan and Isaac all ran about 2 minutes faster than the Championships last year. Congratulations to the entire team for a great season. You became better runners, supported your teammates, showed good sportsmanship, attended practice regularly, and had a lot of fun while doing all that. We're looking forward to celebrating the season with you. Stay tuned for details...

Many thanks to all the parents and family members who supported us by driving, volunteering, cheering us on, and documenting our efforts with photos.

Essex Middle School Meet - 10/5/15
Here are the results from the meet yesterday. We could see all our hard work at practice last week paid off as everyone ran well, including strong finishes. It was great to have Matthew L. running in his first meet of the season after battling a long illness.

Home Meet vs Mater Christi - 9/25/15

Thank you to everyone who helped with our home meet on Friday. We couldn't do it without you! It was also great to see so many spectators. The runners ran well and were good hosts to Mater Christi. For those not familiar with scoring at cross country meets here is a brief explanation. The point totals for each team are the sum of the places of the first 5 runners. If a team has more than 7 runners, those runners are excluded for scoring purposes as are runners from incomplete teams (less than 5). These adjusted places are shown on the team results. The 6th and 7th runners on a team do not score for their team but are left in the results so they can "displace" runners from other teams. The 6th runner may also be used to break a tie.

Williston Meet - 9/18/15
The cross country team is off to a great start this year. There are 15 boys and 15 girls out for the team. They have been working very hard in practice to prepare for their meets. They have also enjoyed some special guests at practice this year: Mr. Gaudette, Mrs. Finn, and Father Gratton. All their hard work paid off at their first meet at Williston Central School on Friday. There were 15 schools competing in the meet with 252 boys and 191 girls. The team is especially proud of our runners for whom this was their first cross country meet: Sean McCormick, Matt Zuk, Greg Roy, Seth Richards, Jacob Wetzel, Joseph Canney, Amy Dragosljvich, Anna Picard, Aida McCormick, and Sophia Strouse. St. Francis had 2 runners in the top 10, both 7th places: Magda Lelito and Jaydon Sartwell. Finishing out the scoring for the girls were Amelia Canney, Maelyn Sartwell,Jessica Eustis, and Olivia Simon. On the boy’s side, Michael Stockbridge, Joseph Canney, Matt Zuk, and Brian Eustis completed our top 5. All the runners came prepared, kept hydrated on a HOT day, ran their best, and were very supportive of their teammates. The St. Francis community is encouraged to come support their team on Tuesday, September 22 at Colchester High School at 4:15 and on Friday September 25 as they host Mater Christi on our "home" course at the ANR property at 111 West St. in Essex Jct. Race time is 4:30, boys and girls together. We hope to see you there.
